Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 25, 2026

Adela AI, Inc. ("Adela AI," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Adela AI platform, including our web and mobile applications (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: name, email address, password
  • Legal documents and case files you upload for analysis
  • Chat messages and queries submitted to the AI
  • Payment information (processed by Stripe — we do not store card details)

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: features accessed, pages viewed, session duration
  • Device and browser information
  • IP address and approximate location
  • AI token consumption and cost estimates (for billing and abuse prevention)
  • Crash reports and performance logs (via Sentry)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service;
  • Process your documents through AI models to generate analysis, timelines, and drafts;
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account;
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing;
  • Send transactional communications (account confirmations, billing receipts);
  • Monitor for abuse, fraud, and security threats;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your uploaded legal documents or case content to train AI models, and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. AI Processing of Legal Documents

Documents you upload are transmitted to and processed by third-party AI providers (including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others via OpenRouter) solely to generate the analysis and outputs you request. These providers process your content under their respective data processing agreements. We use commercially reasonable contractual protections to limit how these providers may use your data.

You are responsible for ensuring that sharing client materials with the Service complies with your professional obligations and any applicable privilege rules. See Section 7 of our Terms of Service for more detail.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in encrypted databases hosted on cloud infrastructure in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews.

Document files are stored in Google Cloud Storage with access restricted to your account. Semantic search indexes are stored in Pinecone. Chat history and metadata are stored in a PostgreSQL database.

No security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to promptly notifying you of any breach that affects your personal data.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription or delete your account, we will delete your content within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Anonymized usage logs may be retained longer for product analytics.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services in operating the platform:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • RevenueCat — mobile subscription management
  • Google Cloud — document storage
  • Neon (PostgreSQL) — database
  • Pinecone — vector search
  • Upstash (Redis) — background job queue and caching
  • Sentry — error monitoring and crash reporting
  • Langfuse — AI usage observability
  • OpenRouter / OpenAI / Anthropic / Google — AI model providers

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing the data they process. We recommend reviewing their policies where relevant to your use case.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate data;
  • Request deletion of your data;
  • Export your data in a portable format;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@adelaai.app. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies

The web application uses session cookies for authentication and functional purposes. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may affect your ability to sign in.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
